We’re excited to announce the addition of oral GLP-1 medications to our lineup at Flow Wellness. These options offer a convenient alternative for those seeking GLP-1 therapies without injections, though there are some key details and differences from subcutaneous (SQ) options to consider.
How It Works: Daily Dosing Instructions
Our oral GLP-1 formulations are designed to be taken once daily on an empty stomach. For optimal absorption:
- No eating or drinking 30 minutes before or after taking the medication.
- Using the provided milliliter medicine dropper, simply measure out your dose and consume the medication.
- Place under tongue and hold for 2 minutes before swallowing.
- Take medication at the same time of day – we recommend first thing in the morning or evening before bed.
- The medication must be refrigerated.
Comparing Oral and Subcutaneous GLP-1 Options
It’s essential to understand that oral GLP-1 options are not as potent as the subcutaneous injections. For most, this medication may be better suited for maintenance dosing or for those pursuing GLP-1 therapy for non-weight-loss-related benefits or limited weight loss (generally less than 5% of total body weight).
Oral GLP-1 medications have not been formally studied and are not FDA approved. Our clinic has not seen any additional safety concerns associated with oral GLP-1 medications beyond those with the injectable versions. However, it’s important to note that there is no data guaranteeing weight loss with these oral formulations, so they are best suited for those with realistic expectations around outcomes.
Please be aware that there are no refunds if weight loss does not occur with the use of these oral medications. They are an option to help individuals explore GLP-1 benefits without injections but may not deliver the same weight loss results as their injected counterparts.
